We are offering Pilates @ The Physio Rooms at our Hove clinic inside Pavilion & Avenue Tennis Club, 19 The Droveway, Hove, BN3 6LF.
Classes are run by our experienced teacher Georgie Shand. We can also offer one to one Pilates using the Reformer, mat work or a combination.
The Pilates method was created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900′s. With no equipment, Joseph learnt how to condition his mind and body. His technique works to re-awaken the body through balance and movement. This technique has been used by dancers and gymnasts for decades. More recently Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and General Practitioners recommend Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise today.
Pilates is derived from an anatomical understanding of the body’s muscular and skeletal system. It can be beneficial for just about anyone, regardless of age and level of fitness. Pilates is either taught in a matwork or studio setting.

Mum & Baby Pilates
This is a class specifically designed for mums looking to get back to their pre pregnancy shape and to feel truly confident in their postpartum body.
We use the principles of Pilates for the first part of the class where we are on the mats doing core and pelvic floor exercises to strengthen the weakened abdominals and help with any diastisis recti, and then move into a full body circuit of more functional exercises.
The class has a maximum of 5 mums plus babies; all welcome from 6 weeks onwards, from lying on the floor to cruising around the room: bring toys and snacks to help keep them entertained, as the class is for you, and a chance for you to get as much from the exercises as possible.

Pilates can be beneficial for numerous health conditions as well as assisting in injury rehabilitation. It offers a safe form of exercise for conditions such as scoliosis, osteoporosis, and arthritis. Pilates can be hugely advantageous during and after pregnancy, and for all age ranges; children to grandparents!
