Ergonomics
is an important part of preventative and rehabilitative Physiotherapy.
As a result of the advancement of IT, an increasing
number of people are spending longer sitting at their desks without
taking natural breaks performing repetitive movements. Together
with sustained poor posture, this may increase the risk of developing
health problems, such as pain and discomfort in the neck, arms,
elbows, wrists and hands. Our Physiotherapists are qualified to assess your
working environment and advise on any necessary changes. They
have specialist knowledge in Ergonomics and work-related conditions,
and will be able to advise you on whether an Ergonomic assessment
is relevant for your condition. Our ergonomic service includes:
 | Individual assessment of an
employee with a specific problem. |
 | Assessment of a department
or organisation, including when there has been a change of
office furniture, or location. |
 | Biannual Ergonomic reviews
to ensure the maintenance of a optimal working environment |
Ergonomic assessments are particularly relevant
to help prevent, manage, and reduce:
 | Low back pain |
 | Prevent, manage and reduce
neck and shoulder pain and tension, which can have a significant
effect on decreasing headaches. |
 | Prevent repetivive strain
injuries (RSI) |
Advice on posture, work time management and exercise
will increase overall comfort at the workstation, resulting in:
 | Reduction of lower back pain
|
 | Reduction of stress caused
neck and shoulder tension |
 | Prevention of repetitive strains |
